10 Ways to Stick to your 2020 Resolutions
Happy Tuesday everyone! I was back in the office today, preparing for another busy week ahead. This morning when I was looking in my planner, I noticed we just entered into week 3 of the New Year (hard to grasp- I know)! These past 3 weeks have been busy, just as the start of every new year typically is. Have you been sticking to your 2020 resolutions? If not, my "10 Ways to Stick to your 2020 Resolutions" post will definitely help.
This topic is something we can all relate to no matter if you've made 1 or 20 resolutions. The fact is, we all try to start each new year with a clean slate. As we say goodbye to one year, we say hello to the next aka "the best year yet". Since the hype of 2020 has settled, now is the perfect time to check in with your new years resolutions and see how you're doing. If you find yourself having trouble sticking with your 2020 goals, don't fret, below are a few ways to help. It's a New Year, and a fresh start with 12 new months of dreams, and goals to work towards.
10 Ways to Stick to your 2020 Resolutions
NUMBER ONE: WRITE IT DOWN
This is something I do on a regular basis. Writing things down, such as your goals/resolutions and ambitions, has been proven to make you more likely to achieve them. With that being said, put your pen to paper and start jotting down your 2020 goals.
NUMBER TWO: BREAK YOUR BIG GOALS INTO SMALLER, MORE ACHIEVABLE GOALS
This rule of thumb has been a game changer for me. I used to get overwhelmed right off the bat because I was trying to accomplish too much in a very small amount of time. The problem with this was that it wasn't realistic. Plus, I started to lose sight of all the progress I was actually making. From that, I've learned to break the bigger picture into smaller, more manageable pieces. Because of this, I'm now accomplishing and achieving more than I ever have.
NUMBER THREE: SET PROGRESS CHECKPOINTS
Setting progress checkpoints for the year is an excellent idea. It's a great way to track the progress of your resolutions without the pressure. If you decide to give this a try over the next 12 months, I promise you'll be amazed at how much you'll be checking off your list.
NUMBER FOUR: STAY POSITIVE
This is easier said than done. If you stay positive and focused, regardless of the ups and downs, you'll always end up on top.
NUMBER FIVE: MAKE IT FUN!
I love #5 because I am a huge advocate for making resolutions, or anything for that matter, more fun. If you're working toward being the best version of yourself, make sure you're having fun along the way. Practice enjoying the journey and never forget to treat yourself.
NUMBER SIX: AIM TO BE BETTER THEN YOU WERE THE DAY BEFORE
This is a great tip because your mindset is everything. Striving to be the best you will only enhance your ability to stick to your resolutions this 2020.
NUMBER SEVEN: SHARE YOUR GOALS WITH OTHERS
You never know what others might be trying to accomplish, so go ahead and share some of your own resolutions with them. Speaking out loud allows for you to not only talk through your resolutions but gain ideas as well.
NUMBER EIGHT: DON'T SWEAT THE SMALL STUFF
Maintaining perfection is completely unrealistic. If you mess up or fall short one day, embrace it and start fresh the following. Don't be too hard on yourself and remember, don't sweat the small stuff.
NUMBER NINE: EMBRACE & PREPARE FOR CHANGE
Change can be scary, let's face it. But, without change, there would be no growth. Preparing yourself for a year filled with potential change is one of the best things you can do. Change is inevitable and frankly necessary to get you to where you want/need to be.
NUMBER TEN: LEARN FROM THE PAST
The past (in my opinion) is one of our best educators. Reflect on what has/hasn't worked in years past. From that, make changes and choices based on that for the upcoming year.
I hope you enjoyed this post and find some of these tips helpful as you stay on track with your 2020 resolutions this year. Also, if you didn't get a chance to read my last post, go ahead and do so, because these two go hand in hand. Have a great week everyone!
