Trust Your Journey
PASSION BACKS MY YOGA
In life, we all have a certain path, and everyone finds hobbies, activities, people or a combination of these, for a specific reason. We gravitate towards certain people and activities because we have an attraction to them. Whether it's good energy or passion, we tend to be drawn to them nonetheless. Passion backs my yoga for several reasons. I started my practice when I was in high school and never looked back. Yoga and I just clicked. I not only saw benefits, I liked the way I was feeling and how I started to think and view life. In the end, trust your journey.[gallery size="full" type="rectangular" columns="1" link="file" ids="1905"]
WHAT YOGA MEANS TO ME
Yoga is a mind, body connection. It is a state of being, a time where you can reflect and grow. A time where you can become more aware, more loving and above all, more accepting of yourself and others around you. I believe yoga has helped me gain a deeper understanding of who I am and how being kind and honest to yourself and others, can make all the difference. Yoga to me, helps recenter the body and mind. Life can be hectic, so learning how to be cognitively aware of how you feel, as well as take care of your body, heart and mind, is crucial.
CHANGE YOUR PERSPECTIVE
I have always been intrigued by the physical aspect of yoga and the beautiful way the body can be posed and contorted. Inversions are challenging and take time to master, but yoga is just that, a "practice". Inversions are "cool" and "trendy", but also contain some amazing health benefits. Always push yourself to grow in all areas, but remember to be mindful, true and always honor your body.[gallery type="rectangular" size="full" columns="1" link="file" ids="1907,1904,1910"]Here are some wonderful benefits that result from adding inversions into your practice.
- HELPS YOUR HEART - Gravity increases blood flow. When you're inverted, the heart dose not have to work as hard to circulate blood to all areas of the body.
- FORCES YOU TO FOCUS - If you think you can flip your body upside down without concentrating, that is a misconception.
- BECOME A SMARTER COOKIE - Circulation is key. When upside down, it increases blood flow to the brain, which does not happen when standing upright. More blood to the brain equals more oxygen and nutrients which result in a faster functioning noggin. It's been proven to help with memory, concentration and clarity of thoughts.
- ITS FUN AND BEAUTIFUL - Yes, I know, inversions are a gorgeous to look at, as well as fun and exciting.
- BUILDS CONFIDENCE - After you have mastered an inversion you have been working on, it is a wonderful, humbling experience. It leads to confidence as well as helps motivate you knowing your hard work paid off. In the end, you learn that any obstacle can be defeated, on and off the mat.
- STRENGTHENS THE CORE - Yes, you absolutely use an enormous amount of core strength to hoist yourself upside down into an inversion for "x" amount of time. Try adding inversions to your ab conditioning.
- STRENGTHENS YOUR BONES - Ligaments hold your bones together. When practicing inversions, your ligaments grow stronger, which in return make your bones less susceptible to fractures or breaks.
- ENHANCES YOUR IMMUNITY - Inversions help circulate the blood, which in turn helps fight diseases.
- BUILDS BALANCE - Inversions are another form of balance training. It also allows for one to learn more about their sense of body in space.
- INCREASES FLEXIBILITY AND LONGEVITY - Being flexible increases longevity. When you're flexible, your body can endure more without being injured. As you get older, your flexibility helps adapt to change.
