Bouquet d'Alella Winery

RED LIPS & WINE SIPS

Catalunya, Spain is predominantly a white wine region, so even the boldest red wines they have to offer are considered to be light-bodied. Bouquet d'Aella is a fairly small winery although it is growing. They produce a smaller quantity of wine than that of the larger companies, snd their wine is locally and organically grown and with love. I actually appreciate that they're a smaller winery because the attention to detail and care embodied in their wine is magnificant. For example, the grapes are still hand picked and pressed to this day. If that doesn't strike a cord with you, I don't know what will.Their cellar is housed in an 14th century historical home, which is used to store the wine after it has been put in either the barrels or vats. Barreled wines tend to have bolder, richer taste, compared to those stored in stainless steel wine drums. I never knew how vast the difference was until I was at this tasting and had two back to back glasses of white wine made from the same grapes; the only difference was how they were fermented. It's things like this, that intrigue me.
