8 Things I Do To Be More Productive
Happy Monday and hello week 10!! I really can't believe we've entered our third month. If you've noticed you have been feeling "off" or being less productive lately, no need to worry. We're all in this together and facing challenges unlike any we're used to. As a result, I wanted to kick off the week positively and fresh, so I figured providing you some helpful tips and tricks I use daily to keep me on track (even in quarantine) couldn't hurt. Learn how to maximize your time and be even more productive during the day and in general. Below is a list of 8 things I do to be more productive.
8 THINGS I DO TO BE MORE PRODUCTIVE
1. MAKE A LIST
Making lists is MY THANG! I've been making lists for as long as I can remember and don't think I know how to productively function otherwise - lol. List making has become a part of my daily routine and way of life. Lists help me stay on track and provide me mini victories as I start to cross items off. Lists also help me clearly identify things I need/want to accomplish. I am, however, not too hard on myself if I don't complete everything on my list. Each day, I do my best and whatever I don't get to is simply moved to the next day (if possible).
2. CHECK THE CALENDAR DAILY
Checking the calendar daily is a good habit to develop. Calendars are little reminders of everything we have planned or plan on doing that given week/month.
3. SET TIMERS
Making small goals throughout the day and challenging yourself to accomplish them in a timely manner is easier said than done. Because I possess "Type A" characteristics, I've noticed I tend to get hyper-focused on tasks and end up working on them way longer then I intended to. As a result, I started setting timers for myself and have seen a tremendous shift in my productivity. When the buzzer goes off, I force myself to move onto the next said task if possible. Setting timers not only holds me accountable but helps me not dwell on any given project or task.
4. WAKE UP EARLY
I love the mornings (which many of you already know). I understand that we all can't be "early birds", but if you start by setting your alarm just an hour earlier, I know you'll be amazed at how much you accomplish before your regular wake up call goes off. Mornings are peaceful and quiet, making them my MOST productive part of the day.
5. DRAFT THE WEEK
Plans will change (especially now with COVID-19 calling the shots). Yet, I do believe having the ability to draft your week (regardless of what's going on) can be extremely helpful. Having insight on what's going on over the next 7 days can allow you to plan ahead and accordingly. I typically set aside time on Sunday nights or Monday mornings to draft my upcoming week. Drafting my weeks has helped me maximize my time and make life a little easier to manage.
6. WORKOUT IN THE MORNING
Working out in the morning (for me at least) gets me ready for the day! I love getting up early and getting my workout out of the way. I've found this routine works best for me because it ultimately gives me more of my day back. I don't have to worry about getting ready twice (girl probs) or try finding the energy later in the day when all I want to do is relax and unwind. This is a personal preference, so as long as you're making time to get your workout in, you're good!
7. KEEP A CLEAN WORKSPACE
Keeping a clean workspace is a no brainer. My performance is a night and day difference when working in a neat and clean space. Set the tone of your day just by tidying up your work area.
8. REWARD YOURSELF
I am a firm believer in "working hard, and playing harder". If we've learned anything from this pandemic, it's fair to say we've learned that life as we know it isn't guaranteed. That being said, work hard, yet, live well. Create a balanced lifestyle that not only has you being your most productive self, but living your best and fullest life!
