8 Outdoor Activities to do this Summer

Sometimes it's just nice to unplug and allow yourself to recenter and connect with Mother Nature. Now that the days are longer and the weather's warmer, I have been challenging myself to spend more time outdoors. Even though I love the busy, hustle bustle, I have found a new appreciation for the great outdoors. Take a peek at my list of 8 outdoor activities you'll want to do this summer.

HIKING

This activity is new to me. I was fortunate enough to finally go on my first official hike earlier this summer and LOVED it! It is an amazing workout as much as it is rewarding. Hiking is challenging, peaceful, and beautiful all at the same time. There is something to be said about being surrounded by nature. It is a humbling experience and I am so happy to have found this new outdoor activity.

FARMER'S MARKET

Farmer's markets are my favorite! This is an activity I try to do often during the summer. I love how everything sold is local and fresh. It's not only a great way to give back to your community, but also a place to get all the groceries you need for the week in an environment other than the grocery store. Soak up the sun, while you enjoy samples and check everything off your shopping list.

BIKE RIDING

Bike riding is great form of exercise and a wonderful way to get you up and out of the house or studio (for those of you who enjoy cycling - as I do). This activity can be done solo or with a couple friends. It's time to take your bike out and cruise around this summer.

WINERIES

Who doesn't love wine? Wineries are a leisure activity but are extremely enjoyable nonetheless. They're a great outdoor social activity to do this summer. Grab a bottle of your favorite white or roseand cheers to good wine and even better company.

YOGA

As a yoga instructor, I might be a little biased when it comes this activity. I see greater value in doing yoga outside or even doing it in a studio where the windows/doors can be opened. As you focus on connecting your mind and body, allowing yourself to connect with nature can make it that much more impactful. Namaste.

KAYAKING

What a workout! Kayaking is fun and will definitely have you feeling it hours after. This is a great activity to do a couple times this summer. It only takes a couple of hours and is fun to do. Kayaking is an awesome way to be active while enjoying the beautiful outdoors. Sometimes it's good to skip the gym and play in the sun!

OUTDOOR PICNICS

Picnics are always FUN especially when you're outside on a gorgeous summery day! Hit up Whole Foods, grab some of your favorite snacks, a bottle of wine and make your way on over to a local park or outdoor destination you have been wanting to visit. Enjoy the afternoon with a special someone or a group of friends laughing, soaking up the sun and filling bellies with a tasty "home-packed" lunch.

WATER ACTIVITIES

Being from Florida, I love being on and in the water. I have really enjoyed this summer thus far, and have been able to spend a good amount of time on the water. Boating is one of my favorite water activities to do, along with tubing. Spending a day feeling a breeze in my hair, splashes of water on my skin and sun shining bright sounds like an ideal day this summer.
