15 Habits of Truly Happy People
Happy Thursday! I hope you're all having a great short week. I know we just had a long holiday weekend but I couldn't be happier knowing tomorrow's already Friday... am I right??
As month after month seems to rush by, I have been thinking more and more about how I can enhance the way I live my day to day which will have positive effects in my overall life. I view myself as being a very genuinely positive, upbeat person with an enormous lust for life, as many of you probably do. Yet, every now and again I wonder, am I really, truly happy? I know this is deep, but it's good to explore and visit these sometimes uncomfortable or off-putting topics. At the end of every soul searching quest I go on, I come to the same conclusion... I AM truly happy as I live my best life with endless opportunities, and unconditional love.
As I've gotten older, I've come to realize there is always some deeper situation or thing in my life causing this self-doubt. Becoming aware of this has really helped me overcome tough times in a positive and healthy manner; believing one of my favorite mantras: "This too shall pass". With all that being said, life is a beautiful mess, full of ups and downs, yet designed to be enjoyed and lived happily and fully. Challenge yourself to be more self aware of times in your life where you don't feel 100% happy or yourself. If you strive to make each day a little more special and better than the last you’ll be amazed at how drastically your quality of life can change for the better. Feeling like you can be happier? Try integrating a few of my habits I've listed below (and use on a daily basis) into your daily routine, and be well on your way to living your best and happiest life!

LIVE IN THE MOMENT
Living in the moment is easier said than done, but crucial to living a full and happy life. Check in with yourself next time you are on the go or moving a hundred miles a minute and make sure you are taking the time to STOP and live in the moment.
SURROUND YOURSELF WITH THE RIGHT PEOPLE
Happy people radiate beautiful energy, so don’t hang around those who will drain you or dim your light.
APPRECIATE WHAT YOU HAVE
Being grateful isn’t only good for your health, but your wellbeing and mood. So often, we tend to want more than we actually need. There is nothing wrong with this, but it's important we don't loose sight of what we already have and be grateful for all that we've gained and worked for.
TAKE CARE OF YOURSELF / TREAT YOURSELF
HUGE ADVOCATE! I am a big fan of working hard and playing harder. Work at living a life you love, instead of working to live. You are one of a kind and invaluable, so grow accustomed to treating yourself and treating yourself well because frankly, you deserve it!
STAY BUSY, BUT NOT RUSHED
Being busy is a positive because it gives you purpose, holds you accountable and makes you feel productive. Being rushed on the other hand, causes unneeded stress and can result in unhappiness. If you are rushed, you may not perform your best or crack under pressure, so live a life that is busy, yet manageable!
DREAM BIG ALWAYS ...
People who are truly happy always seem to have a bigger picture in mind. Those who value and believe in their future goals and dreams tend to always have something to look forward to and work towards. Dreams make people happy, so never stop dreaming (BIG) and always go after the life you want!
BE OVERALL OPTIMISTIC / STAY POSITIVE
Happy people are programmed to naturally be a little more optimistic and positive than the average Joe. This is a great quality that can improve your overall life, but for those of us who may not always see the bright side to things, feel confident knowing your glass is always 1/2 full.
RESPECT, LOVE AND BE KIND TO OTHERS
There’s nothing like good karma! What goes around, comes around, so be your best, happy self and let the good vibes/energy flow.
FORGIVE, BUT DON'T FORGET
Forgiving is hard task to do, but can be toxic if you never learn to forgive. Happy people forgive often, but never forget. Remember that.
CONCENTRATE ON WHAT YOU ACTUALLY "CAN" CONTROL
Truly happy people realize what they can and can't control. This is so important because a lot of the time we can get fixated on things that we have no control over and become unhappy when situations / plans don't go according to plan. Learning to let go and trust what is meant to be (good or bad) can save you from a lot of unhappiness and feeling the loss of control. The universe has your back, and feel at peace knowing everything really does happen for a reason.
EXERCISE
Happy people move! Exercise is beneficial to your heart, brain and entire body/wellbeing. It also creates endorphins which make you feel good. Looking and feeling good has a lot to do with your happiness, so it’s time to get on the happy bandwagon and start working out on a regular basis.
MAKE AN EFFORT AND PUT IN THE WORK TO BE HAPPY
As with anything, you have to want to do to something. If you’re committed to living your best, happiest life, JUST DO IT!
LEARN TO UNDERSTAND, TRUST AND LOVE YOUR LIFE AND WHO YOU REALLY ARE
When you’re truly happy, you are patient, understanding and loving of the raw person you are inside and out. This isn’t easy for many, but vital to living a life you’re truly happy with.
EMBRACE GROWTH AND CHANGE
Change can be nerve-racking or something you are uncomfortable with, but change isn’t always bad and can do wonders. Embrace change, and welcome new challenges as you transform into your best self and grow into the amazing person you’re meant to become.
CREATE YOUR OWN HAPPINESS
Don't wait! You are in control of your life and how you want to live it, so embrace this one life you were given with a happy heart, big smile and loving soul!
