10 Things to Always Remember

10 THINGS TO ALWAYS REMEMBER

[gallery link="file" columns="1" size="full" ids="4909"]I believe we can all agree that life is a beautiful mess. With that being said, I've compiled a list of "10 things to always remember". This list is wonderful to reference at any time in your life and has helped me see things in a different light. Your life may get messy, but never forget it's always beautiful.

1. THE PAST CAN'T BE CHANGED

To start, the past is in the past. The sooner you recognize and acknowledge this, the sooner you can redirect your energy and focus on to what’s truly important which is the present and future. Although the past is vital for gaining experiences, memories and molding us into the people we are today, it's not a state of mind to live in. Strive to be present and put energy into creating the future and life you desire. Never stop chasing your dreams.

2. OPINIONS DON'T DEFINE YOUR REALITY

Everyone has and will continue to have an opinion on just about anything and everything, including you. Take these opinions with a grain of salt because at the end of the day your opinion is what ultimately matters. Someone's quick exterior judgement on you will never define your reality.

3. EVERYONE'S JOURNEY IS DIFFERENT

Everyone has their own journey and life to live. Throughout life, paths may cross, and similar doors may open and close. Nonetheless, your journey will always be unique and special to you, so take pride in that. Walk through life with purpose, overcome challenges, and never stop embracing what’s meant to be.

4. OVERTHINKING LEADS TO SADNESS

The mind is powerful, so use it for good. Overthinking things is neither healthy nor beneficial to your wellbeing. You must always strive to learn and stimulate your brain, without filling it with endless thoughts. A cluttered mind will not only exhaust you, but potentially make you sad. Thinking about something nonstop won't change the outcome. Knowing that, welcome your thoughts as the come, but don't dwell on them... let them pass.

5. HAPPINESS IS FOUND WITHIN

People and things can surely enhance your happiness, although, don't lose sight of where that true, authentic happiness resides. Practice self-love and try to see the good in all things, even if it's challenging. When life gets rough, or you feel alone or defeated, remember, nothing is permanent. Things pass eventually, and life luckily has a way of working out the kinks. In the meantime, if you're struggling with something, try putting the pen to paper and journal or jot down what seems to be bothering you. Even saying a quick prayer can help. You are AMAZING, one of a kind and born to stand out... be happy![gallery link="file" columns="1" size="full" ids="4914,4913,4912"]

6. YOUR THOUGHTS AFFECT YOUR MOOD

Practice positive thinking. I know, I know, easier said than done. Your thoughts can quickly be tainted by others including yourself. When you notice this happening, rise above and regain control. When I start to feel this way, I try to go for a walk, switch up my environment or listen to music. All of these are good tactics that have aided me when I felt as though my mood was being altered.

7. SMILES ARE CONTAGIOUS + KINDNESS IS FREE

Smile always and often. Not only are smiles contagious, they benefit the mind, body and overall wellbeing. Smiles have been proven to lower blood pressure, improve one’s mood, while reliving stress and pain. Smiles are universal and welcomed by people from all over. The world needs more people who are kind and not afraid to show off their pearly whites. There is no cost behind being kind, so be kind to all, even those who you feel may not deserve it. Fill your life with love, happiness and good energy.

8. IT'S OKAY TO LET GO AND MOVE ON

All things serve a purpose at specific times in your life, but eventually some things/people who were once good for you, no longer are. If this is the case, it's okay to let go and move on. I'm not saying this will always be easy, but it will benefit you in the long run. Surround yourself with people who enhance you and love you.

9. THINGS WILL GET BETTER WITH TIME

Time helps heal. As time passes, you naturally and gradually start to lose those "intense" emotional sensations associated with certain situations or relationships in your life. Your mind doesn't erase sad or painful moments, it just starts to push them further and further out of focus, making them less vivid. Life will always be a mixture of good and bad, so remember even if your facing something tough now, the best is yet to come.

10. WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND

Finally, number ten on my list of 10 things to always remember is what goes around, comes around. Don't waste your energy on those people who have wronged you. Never seek revenge, instead, simply walk away. Remove yourself from toxic people swiftly and quietly. Let life be their educator, because what goes around, certainly comes around. The best revenge is to just happily move on and let karma do the rest. Always strive to be your best self and focus on creating the happiest life for you and those around you.If you enjoyed this post, check out leaving a mark.
